BT Group plc announced its results today for the second quarter and half year to 30 September 2010, with revenues down 3% to £4,977 million.

Its earnings before interest, taxes, depreciation, and amortization (EBITDA) was up 3% to £1,452 million, with adjusted profits before tax up 13% to £496 million.

BT Vision has seen an increase of a third in its take up, with 24,000 net additions in the quarter and its customer base currently standing at 520,000. Of these, over 50,000 have taken the Sky Sports service which commenced broadcasting in August 2010.

BT Vision is seeing continued increase in its usage, with average subscription views per customer up 10% since last quarter. Further enhancements are going to be made to the service with 3D and faster HD downloads available for Christmas. The BBC iPlayer will also be added to BT Vision and will be rolled out to the customer base during the second half of the year.

Commenting on the results, Ian Livingston, chief executive said: “We have made significant progress in improving profitability and cash flow, enabling us to invest in building the foundations for revenue growth in 2012/13.

“Global Services order intake was up 50% at £2.1bn. Our fibre roll out has passed three million premises and BT Infinity orders are now running at over 4,000 per week. BT Vision customers now stand at more than half a million, with more developments planned to enhance our offering. Our share of DSL broadband net additions was 45%, one of our highest shares ever.”
