BTAA To Create Weekly New Commercials Resource Online

The UK’s new advertising commercials are to be available to view each Monday morning from July onwards, on the website of the British Television Advertising Awards (BTAA), eventually forming an archived resource of creative executions.

The new initiative, announced today, is called Adbreaks and will carry a voting programme allowing the organisation to identify the week’s favourite ads according to site users. Commercials will be added by product category, while search facilities will also allow categorisation according to advertiser, brand name, agency, production company, director and post production facility.

BTAA chairman Peter Levelle said, “With agencies submitting the entries at playout stage, the quality will be outstanding and the category system will build, week by week, into a national archive, providing an invaluable resource for all marketing and advertising companies.”

The IPA, which will have a hotlink from its site, has welcomed the announcement. IPA president, Bruce Haines commented, “Those of us old enough to remember ‘Monday’s Newcomers’ will appreciate this initiative. Being able to keep up to date with new work in such an accesible way will be a fantastic boon to the development of great TV advertising.”
