Bungey To Step Down As CEO Of Bates Worldwide
Chairman and CEO of Bates Worldwide Michael Bungey has announced his decision to step down from his position in order to concentrate on his duties as CEO of Cordiant. This morning he announced a new management structure at Bates which he will oversee until his departure in twelve months time.
“The pace of growth of the CCG company in the last 18 months has been rapid and exciting. We have now secured our position as one of the top 10 communications companies in the world (see Cordiant Acquires Lighthouse Global Network). The management task is infinitely greater and more complex. So we needed to move on and evolve a new structure to fit the future demands of the company,” he said.
Jean de Yturbe, chairman of Bates Europe, will be named Chairman of Bates Worldwide within a year. Bill Whitehead, currently CEO of Bates North America, will assume the newly-created position of president and CEO of Bates Worldwide, effective immediately.
Ian Smith will become chairman and CEO of CCG.XM, Cordiant’s global e-business solutions company, reporting directly to Bungey. He will also be responsible for all online initiatives, with the objective of developing the entire company as an e-business network.
A period of rapid investment and growth at Cordiant allowed it to report record profits in its interim results last month (see Cordiant Reports Profits Up 66%).
