C4’s Jonathan Allan joins the Connected Consumer panel

Jonathan Allan, director of sales at Channel 4, joins the expert panel line-up for MediaTel Group’s upcoming Connected Consumer event on 21 and 24 September.

Allan, formerly managing director of OMD UK, will appear alongside Starcom MediaVest Group’s Steve Smith, ROVI’s Jon Hewson and Spirit Digital Media’s Peter Cowley in the ‘Content: Finding it, Distributing and Sharing it’ session on day two of the event.

Day one will be based at i-Burbia, where delegates will have the opportunity to see and test all the latest devices, platforms and technology, including Freesat’s new Freetime box, which was announced last week, the new YouView boxes (all three versions), Apple TV, Google TV, the latest Samsung Smart TV, Virgin Media’s TiVo box, Xbox 360 and many more.

Day two will follow on Monday 24 September at Merrill Lynch, where discussion will focus on content, discovery, technology, the role of existing and new broadcasters and platforms, second screens, the CE businesses, VOD, research and data.

Allan was appointed sales director at Channel 4 in 2011, joining the executive leadership team as well as becoming a member of the Channel 4 Board. He reports directly to chief executive David Abraham.

He is responsible for leading his team into taking, for the first time, over £1 billion in revenue across spot advertising, online, product placement and sponsorship in 2011.

Allan started out at OMD in 1995 as a graduate TV buyer and following various promotions, he became managing director for OMD UK in 2007.
