Cabal Launches New Cycling Title

Cabal Launches New Cycling Title

Cabal Communications, Sally O’Sullivan’s publishing group, has announced that it is to launch a new title into the cycling magazine market this spring. The monthly title, procycling, will be sold in a wide range of international markets including Britain, Ireland, USA, Canada, Australia, South Africa and Scandinavia.

Edited by William Fotheringham (cycling correspondent to The Guardian, The Observer and the FT), procycling will also be accompanied by the website http://www.procycling.com.

Managing director of Cabal, Andy Sutcliffe, commented “We believe procycling fills a proper gap in the market for a magazine that can provide its readers with an intelligent, exciting, behind-the-scenes insight into the professional cycling world.”

The title will be available from 4 March 1999, with a cover price of £2.95. The launch print run is 50,000. UK circulation is expected to be around 20,000 and export markets are also hoped to reach 20,000.

The publishing group has already ventured into this market sector, as Cabal recently purchased the title Maximum Mountain Bike from Zone Publishing (see Newsline). A Newsline interview with managing director of Cabal Communications, Andy Sutcliffe, is available here.
