Cabal Targets Women With Crime Weekly
Magazine publisher, Cabal Communications, has revealed the details of its weekly magazine which turns out to be based on real and fiction crime-based stories. Crime Weekly is aimed at 25-44 year old women who currently buy magazines in the women’s weekly market.
Earlier in the year, Cabal’s managing director, Andy Sutcliffe, told Newsline that a specialist weekly title with a ‘quirky edge’ to it was in the pipeline (see Interview – Andy Sutcliffe, Managing Director, Cabal Communications) but he was reluctant to confirm that it would be a women’s weekly magazine. Of Crime Weekly, Sutcliffe says: “[It] is not another women’s weekly title: this is the magazine’s route to market but its content and high production values will differentiate it from the traditional women’s weeklies.”
The title will be edited by Keith Wilson, former group editor of IPC’s photography magazines, and launches on 29 January next year. The first edition will have a print run of 300,000 copies and a promotional price of 50; the full cover price will be £1 from the fourth issue. It is hoped the magazine will settle down to sell around 85,000 copies.
