Michael Portillo has been made the new Employment Secretary, it has just been announced. Gillian Shepherd moves to become Education Secretary, replacing John Patten. The new Tory party chairman is Jeremy Hanley, a junior minister. Peter Brooke is replaced by Stephen Dorrell.
