Planet 24 is planning to launch a cable exclusive music channel in Ireland to be called Atomic TV.
Atomic TV will be a 24-hour channel which will carry advertising and a large proportion of Irish-based bands and music. The Irish Government however is still considering whether it will give its support to the project as it fears there could be a clash with TV3, the national commercial station due for launch at the end of the year. Planet 24 however is understood to be considering going ahead with its plans whatever the opinion of the Minister for Arts and Heritage.
The IRTC, the equivalent of the UK’s ITC, will be meeting the Irish Government shortly to discuss the launch of Atomic TV.
