Cable Connections Up 23% To Over 1.5 Million

BARB figures out for June 1996 show cable connections growing at nearly twice the rate of dish connections up 23.1% on the previous year to 1,501,000. Growth from January 1996 to June 1996 has however slowed considerably up just 7.3%, compared to 25.3% between January and June 1995.

Dish sales are up 13.9% year on year to 3,551,000 and still make up the majority of connections at around 70%. As with cable January to June 1996 has shown slower growth for dishes up 2.3% compared to 5.0% over the same period in 1995.

Overall connections for June are up 16.3% year on year to 5,126,000. This figure represents an increase of 40% on 1994 (3,650,000), 59% on 1993 (3,222,000) and 100% on 1992 (2,565,000).
