Cable Consortium Forging Second PPV Deal

Cable Consortium Forging Second PPV Deal

The cable consortium represented by On Demand Management is on the verge of a second pay-per-view movie deal, this time with Columbia Tristar pictures. The group, comprising Telewest, NTL, General Cable and Diamond Cable Communications, is expected to announce the details of the contract this week.

On Demand recently completed a similar deal with Warner Brothers, which gives it the non-exclusive pay-per-view rights to the studio’s films (subscribers see On Demand Confirm Warner Deal). BSkyB has also signed with Warner Brothers and it is believed that Cable & Wireless are to break with the rest of the cable industry’s united front against BSkyB and join the latter in a pay-per-view project.

On Demand companies are hoping to launch their pay-per-view channels in January.
