Cable Directive Delayed
The European Commission has delayed the adoption of their cable directive for one week due to “technical reasons”.
The new directive is expected to allow cable companies in the European Union to compete directly with telephone companies, offering teleshopping and home banking.
Legislation which is to be adopted by the European Commission will force member states to lift restrictions on cable operators that bar them from offering the new services.
Governments will still be able to block cable companies from offering basic voice telephone services.
