Cadbury To Sponsor The Street

Cadbury and Coronation Street have joined forces to create Britain’s biggest broadcast sponsorship deal. The deal, which has long been rumoured (Newsline 10/01), is worth £10m and will begin in September.

The sponsorship will include the Cadbury logo in the opening and closing credits and also off-air promotions where Cadbury will be able to use the Coronation Street name and characters in conjunction with its products.

Mick Desmond, Laser Chief Executive, commented: “Research commissioned by Laser showed that Coronation Street would ideally have to be sponsored by a British company, a company that was sympathetic to ‘The Street’ as well as being a brand name that we have all grown up with.”

Further details of the sponsorship package will be outlined this autumn.
