Caledonian Helps Scottish Media Achieve Record Growth

Caledonian Publishing, the newspaper group which Scottish Media Group bought last October, boosted pre-tax profits at SMG by 80% to £18.5m. Turnover during the six months to 30 June increased 68% to 87.9m.

Sales at Caledonian were increased by over 14% though there was a slight drop in circulation revenue, which reflected “the underlying trends in evening newspaper sales generally.” Ad revenue at STV grew by 5% and market share of ITV revenue improved to 5.02%.
