Caledonian Media Losses Reach £812,000

Caledonian Media Communications, the Scottish cable company, has today released yearly financial results which show that its pre-tax losses have plummeted from £168,000 last year to £812,000. Most of this (£560,000) was due to the loss-making Coventry Cable which was sold in April to KPN Kabel, a Dutch telecommunications group. City analyst had forecast that Caledonian’s losses may have reached £1 million.

Turnover however increased during the year, rising 6.7% to over £10 million, and subscribers in Aberdeen increased marginally from 16,215 to 16,904. The churn rate in this area was 25%, one of the best performing systems in the UK.
