The announcement that Sally Oldham has quit Capital and Russell Stuart is leaving GWR has prompted the radio groups to restructure their digital operations.
Sally Oldham, Capital’s strategy and development director has quit unexpectedly after only a year in the job. She was responsible for leading expansion in to digital radio, developing new business and finding potential acquisitions.
Oldham is not expected to be replaced, as departmental reorganisation will see her responsibilities shared among her colleges. David Mansfield, company chief executive, will take over strategy.Despite Oldham’s sudden departure, Mansfield said: “Sally has made a significant contribution to the company since joining in in 1995 and we wish her well.”Russell Stuart, managing director of GWR digital services will also step down at the end of June, after 25 years in commercial radio. Russell joined the group in 1996 as regional director with responsibility for nine stations throughout the east of England. He was also responsible for launching the digital channels, Core and Planet Rock and led the team that won four local multiplexes for the group.A company spokesperson today said: “There will be no replacement [for Russell] as the role won’t exist, we are restructuring the way GWR digital operates.”
