Capital Gold Network Announces Programme Line-Up

Capital Radio’s new Capital Gold network which was given the go-ahead last week by the Radio Authority (subscribers see Capital Gold To Extend Reach), announced its programme schedule this week. The network, which will broadcast across Hampshire, Sussex, Kent and Birmingham as well as London, promises to “bring some of London’s best known presenters to listeners around the country”.

Weekday 7am – 11am

Stand-up comedian Mike Osman will host the breakfast show, ‘aided and abetted’ by brothers Tony, Dave and Paul – aka The Naughty Boys. The same team will also host weekend shows on Saturday 9am – midday and Sunday 10am – midday.

Weekday 11am – 3pm

Mancunian presenter Mike Sweeny joins Capital Gold for the afternoon slot from Piccadilly Radio. Capital describes him as having a “straight-talking, genuine humourous on-air style”. He will also present a three hour show at 6pm on Sundays.

Weekday Drivetime 3pm – 7pm

Mick Brown, who joined Capital Gold from 95.8 Capital FM last year, will host the Drivetime Showtime on Capital Gold in London only. The rest of the Gold network stations will carry shows broadcast from the respective regions. Mick will also host a Saturday show across the whole network between midday and 2pm.

Sportstime 7pm – 8pm/10pm

Sportstime features Jonathan Pearce who will commentate on all major matches in his ‘legendary’ Brazilian-style commentary.

Weekend Breakfast

After 33 years in broadcasting Tony Blackburn has been with Capital Gold since its inception; he will host the weekend Breakfast Shows between 6am and 9am on Saturday and 6am and 10am on Sunday. He will also present a show at 6.30pm on Saturdays.

Other weekday shows include Dave Clark from 8pm/10pm until midnight; David Andrews Early Breakfast Show between 5am and 7am. Other weekend shows again include Dave Clark’s Elvis Hour between 9pm and 10pm on Sundays, Eammon Kelly between midday and 3pm on Sundays and Suzi Becker between 3pm and 6pm on Sundays.
