Capital Launches New Digital Station On National Network
Capital Radio has unveiled plans for Life, a new digital station to be broadcast on the national network, Digital One. Life will begin broadcasting on 31 January and makes Capital Radio a national, and digital, broadcaster for the first time.
Life will offer listeners soft adult contemporary music from the likes of Sting, George Michael, The Corrs and Whitney Houston. The station is the sixth to launch on the Digital One network and is the third new channel unique to digital radio, along with Core and Planet Rock (see GWR Unveils Multi-Million Pound Digital Radio Stations Launch).
Launching Life, Capital Radio’s managing director, Sally Oldham, says: “In a rapidly expanding radio marketplace we had to ensure that our new service claimed a competitive market position. By looking at current listening habits, motivations and mindsets we have created a unique lifestyle radio brand appealing to a discreet set of listeners.”
