Capital Plans Fun Radio For Scotland
Capital Radio’s planned kids’ station, Fun Radio, has applied for the central Scotland licence currently being advertised by the Radio Authority (RA). If successful in its bid, Fun Radio would be the only Scottish radio station to appeal to children under 15.
Capital has also submitted an application for Fun Radio in the Durham and Tyne and Wear region (see RA Receives 14 Applications North-East ILR Licence). The RA will announce the winner of this licence in the Autumn.
Fun Radio is described by Capital as music-led and interactive, featuring new music, news and information. It will be programmed to appeal to different age groups at different times of day, ranging from 4 to 14.
If the bid succeeds, Fun Radio will appoint its own Children’s Advisory Board, drawn from a number of schools in the licence area.
