Capital Poaches Emma Forbes From Chrysalis

Capital Radio has poached Emma Forbes from Chrysalis owned Heart FM to front the new weekend breakfast show on 95.8 Capital FM.
The announcement follows a number of new initiatives at Capital, such as the shake up of Chris Tarrant’s breakfast programme and the appointment of Dannii Minogue to front a new dance show on the station.
Forbes will front Capital’s new weekend breakfast show with the show’s current presenter, Chris Brookes. She is set to begin on August 4, after working at Heart FM for less than a year.
Andria Vidler, managing director of the Capital FM Network, commented: “Emma is a fantastic addition to the Capital team and we’re delighted that she’s joining us. Having had the recent increase in listeners to Heart’s breakfast show attributed to her, she has already proved a hit with London listeners.”
Commenting on the move, Forbes added: “I’m really excited to be joining Capital at a time when the station has so many great presenters and when the music has never sounded better.”
Capital Radio’s lynchpin presenter, Chris Tarrant, recently declared that he does not intend to leave the station before his contract expires in 2004, and may stay on even longer. Speculation over Tarrant’s future has dented the group’s share price over the past few months, as some analysts believe the popular breakfast show makes up to 17% of the group’s ad revenues.
Earlier this year, Capital appointed former Lastminute.com head of marketing, Carl Lyons, as it senior marketing director (see Capital FM Network Appoints New Senior Marketing Director).
