Capital Radio and Telstar Combine To Create On-Line Shopping

Capital Radio and the Telstar Entertainment Group have joined forces to launch an internet record selling store, due to go on-line on 1 September.

Capital and Telstar will each own 50% of the joint venture which will merge the distribution strengths of Telstar with the award winning Capital Radio websites.

Shoppers will have access to over 220,000 music items, and prices will match the discounts offered by most high street retailers, says Capital. According to the leading market research company BMRB, one million people in the UK have bought something over the internet in the last six months, and Capital believes that the service will be very popular.

Sean O’Brian, founder and chairman of the Telstar Entertainment Group, said: “This last joint venture with Capital Radio builds on an existing relationship, and combines their strong brands and on air promotional capabilities with our operational distribution and music marketing expertise.”
