Capital Radio Hires Grant And Re-Structures Sales Arm

Capital Radio has appointed former Metro marketing director, Linda Grant, as its new strategic marketing director and is restructuring the sponsorship and promotions department of its sales arm, Capital Radio Advertising.

Grant, who takes up her new role in April, will oversee all elements of strategic marketing for Capital covering media strategy, research and brand strategy. Replacing Nikki Mendonca, who left recently to join OMD Europe, Grant will report to managing director of Capital Radio Advertising, Linda Smith, and will work with the group’s sales arm to increase revenues.

Capital Radio Advertising has also restructured its sponsorship and promotions department and has created an interactive enterprises division in an attempt take greater advantage of its radio and online brands.

The restructure will see a merging of on-air and online sell as well as the separation of the sponsorship and promotions functions. The interactive enterprises division has been set up to concentrate on selling various interactive elements including SMS texting, phonelines, branded CDs and ticket retailing.

Capital Radio Advertising’s product director, Rob Corlet, said: “It’s completely apparent from the continuing growth or our S&P sell and conversations with the market that more and more clients are keen to find interesting means of communicating with rather than to their customers.”

James Campling, who has been promoted to head up the promotion and sponsorship teams, added: “Specialist teams can now work in unison with agencies and their clients to create full integrated multi-media solutions.”
