Capital Radio Poaches BBC Online Head To Drive Internet Development
Capital Radio has appointed Mark Frost, currently head of online at the BBC, as the managing director of its new media division, Capital Interactive. Frost has been chosen by Capital to spearhead the ‘next stage of growth’ in the group’s interactive output.
Frost’s role at the BBC holds him in charge of the largest editorial team and most frequently accessed non-portal website in the UK. He worked previously at AOL UK and Europe. Capital says that his experience of working with traditional broadcast media assets alongside the internet is directly relevant to the environment in which Capital’s websites operate.
Over the last three years, Capital Interactive has created a network of websites, based on the company’s radio stations, generating revenue from advertising, sponsorship and e-commerce.
David Mansfield, chief executive of Capital Radio, said: “We are excited about the possibilities the internet holds for Capital and pleased with the progress we have made over the last three years. I am delighted that Mark will be joining us to head up this growing part of our business.”
