Capital Radio Sells Off Bucks Broadcasting And Sun FM

Capital Radio has announced the sale of Bucks Broadcasting Ltd and Sun FM Ltd to Radio Investments Limited. The move is part of its ongoing strategy to focus on its larger stations in major metropolitan areas, including its flagship Capital 95.8 FM, which is the leading commercial station in London (see Capital Still On Top As AM Declines Across London).

The group had a 100% stake in Bucks Broadcasting, which operates Aylesbury-based station, Mix 96. Sun FM Ltd is based in Sunderland and was acquired as part of the group’s acquisition of Border Television last year (see Capital Radio Wins Battle For Border).

Capital has also recently sold its 30% ownership of Wolverhampton’s The Wolf to Forever Broadcasting for £1.55m. In total the net cash proceeds from these deals will equal £9.5m.
