Capital’s Director Of Programmes Opts For More Creative Role

Capital Radio’s director of programmes, Richard Park, has announced his resignation from the board, with immediate effect, in order to take on a less corporate role as creative consultant.

The role will see Park continue to advise on programming, develop partnerships and digital formats, work on events such as Party in the Park and help identify and develop programming talent at Capital, but he will also be free to pursue non-conflicting business consultancy and broadcasting interests. He commented, “This is an exciting time for me – I feel I have paid my dues to corporate life and its time for me to get back to the side of the business that I love.”

Park’s career in radio programming began at Radio Scotland in 1966. He has been with Capital for the past 13 years, serving nine of those years on the board. David Mansfield, Capital’s chief executive, paid tribute to Parks’ “enormous” contribution to Capital and said “I am confident that this new role will benefit both him and us by allowing him to concentrate on what he does best and enjoys most.”
