Capital’s Xfm Takeover Cleared By DTI
The final hurdle in Capital Radio’s takeover of alternative London station Xfm has been cleared today. Margaret Beckett, Secretary of State for Trade and Industry, has decided not to refer the deal to the Monopolies and Mergers Commission.
Last week the Radio Authority announced that its public interest test had determined no reason why the takeover should not go ahead (see Capital Receives Go-Ahead On Xfm Takeover).
Capital will now press ahead with its plans for the station which will shortly relocate from its current studios in Charlotte Street to Capital’s base in Leicester Square.
Subscribers can read an interview with Richard Park, director of programmes at Capital, concerning his plans for Xfm’s future by clicking here.
