Carat Merger With Feather Brooksbank Creates UK’s Largest Regional Media Agency

The Carat Group has this week finalised its takeover of Scottish media agency, Feather Brooksbank, merging it with the Carat Manchester operation to form the UK’s largest regional media planning and buying firm. Carat has paid £7.5 million for Feather Brooksbank after several months of talks and denials that a merger was on the cards (see Feather Brooksbank Denies Merger Talks With Carat).

The new agency, which will trade under the name Feather Brooksbank, has combined billings of over £105 million. The merger follows a rocky period for Carat Manchester, during which the agency lost a number of clients, and sees the end of the Carat brand on a UK regional level.

Carat Manchester’s managing director, Chris Broadbent, will report to Feather Brooksbank’s co-founder, Stuart Feather, who, in turn, will report to Carat Group UK chief executive Ray Kelly.
