Carlton And Granada Line Up New Sponsorship Deals

Carlton Communications has secured Slim Fast as the sponsor of ITV1’s Wish You Were Here? and its daytime spin-off, Wish You Were Here? Today.

The deal will see the Unilever brand sponsor the entire series of the travel show, which will run for six weeks on Tuesday nights at 7.30pm, before moving to a regular weekend slot for a further 20 weeks. Slim Fast will also sponsor six weeks of the daytime spin-off show, which runs from Mondays to Fridays at 2pm.

Sarah Clarke, Slim Fast’s UK marketing manager, said: “The sponsorship offers us a fantastic opportunity to reach consumers when they are thinking about their holidays, a time when they are often also thinking about getting in shape. It has also allowed us to introduce the brand in a different way from our traditional testimonial advertising.”

The deal was brokered by David Prosser, director of sponsorship at Carlton and Chris Holdom at Sponsorcom, the sponsorship arm of MediaCom.

In a separate move, Granada Enterprises has announced that learndirect is to become the £250,000 sponsor of ITV1 daytime chatshow, Trisha.

The sponsorship runs for nine weeks and includes on-air credits on ITV1 and ITV2, as well as all repeats of Trisha on the main terrestrial channel. The deal was arranged by Mark Eaves at Drum PHD and Leigh Moscrip at Granada Enterprises.

Commenting on the sponsorship, Gareth Dent, head of the learndirect advice line, said: “This sponsorship is a great opportunity for learndirect to help encourage Trisha‘s viewers to call our free helpline for information and advice on career development, skills enhancement and learning.”
