Carlton Communications today announced that it had acquired rights to the Rohauer Film Collection, which includes over 600 films, for its digital TV movie channel as well as export abroad.
The collection contains mainly early films such as The Birth of a Nation, The Mark of Zorro, The Thief of Bagdad and The Phantom of the Opera and is a further boost to Carlton’s library after it bought Rank’s film collection earlier this year (subscribers see Carlton Buys Rank). The company now owns over 8,000 hours of TV programmes as well as over 1,500 films.
