Michael Heseltine, the Trade and Industry secretary, has given the go- ahead to the sale of The Observer to the Guardian and Manchester Evening News, hence avoiding a Monopolies & Mergers enquiry. Jonathan Fenby will take over as editor of the paper next week.
National Heritage secretary, Peter Brooke, is looking into the possibility of changing broadcasting rules which prevent individual ITV companies from taking over each other. April estimates of TV revenue came in at £149,440,000 an increase of 6.7% on the same period last year, aswell as a 6.8% improvement of last month’s total.
