Overnight figures for the first episode of BBC1’s A Year in Provence stood at 13.5m, one million viewers more than Darling Buds of May on ITV. Maker of Darling Buds, Yorkshire Television is blaming the fall in ratings on the “curiosity factor” of the new series and expects things to return to normal next Sunday.
