Janet Izatt, associate editor of Media Week has been promoted to acting editor three months after Phoebe Cork left to concentrate on writing. Izatt is expected to be confirmed as editor in the near future, as publisher Stuart Bindley-Ross has stated publicly that he is not looking to recruit anyone else
Press-buying director of O&M, Bill Kinlay has been promoted to media director. The post has been vacant since former managing director Bill Patterson left in June. The latest weekly viewing figures from BARB, for the week ending 23/10/94, show ITV and C4 combined taking 51.1% of the total share of viewing, an average of 13 hours and 23 minutes. This is up 2.4% on last year. All TV viewing is up by 1% year on year.

Former National Heritage Secretary, David Mellor, is to broaden his own media coverage further with a series of late-night chat shows to be screened by Channel 4 in the new year. According to Broadcast magazine, the shows, un-titled as yet, are to be produced by the same company responsible for After Dark.
Microsoft is to test an “end-to-end software solution” for interactive TV early next year.
