Customs and Excise has changed the treatment of VAT for magazines and “linke goods” such as covermounts. This means that covermounts now assume the VA liability of the main magazine, (which is zero-rated.) Staff at Yorkshire-Tyne Tees Television have agreed to the new cost-cutting terms which they had been disputing over the past few weeks. The 185 employees would have been sacked if they had not agreed to the new terms.
