Champions League Coverage Draws 7 Million To ITV
![]()
ITV’s coverage of last night’s UEFA champions league final between Bayern Munich and Valencia attracted an average of 7m viewers with a peak of 11m, according to unofficial overnight figures.
As coverage got underway ITV2 repeated the policy of showing Coronation Street during what is normally its terrestrial slot of 7.30pm. This approach was first adopted in March, to the digital channel’s advantage (see Football Drives Corrie Fans To ITV2). On ITV the soap was scheduled for a later time of 10pm, but was delayed by almost an hour as the game went to a penalty shoot out.
BARB figures put the audience for ITV’s coverage of last year’s champions league final at 6.9m.
