Changes At The Guardian And The Sunday Times
The Guardian’s long awaited stand-alone sports section finally appeared in the paper yesterday. The Guardian Sport is a 12 page broadsheet section that will be sold with the paper every Monday. The section is strong on statistics, facts and figures. The features are well written and tell the story. The new section is not brilliant, but it adequately fills a gaping hole in The Guardian’s coverage. Sport fanatics have come to expect colour photography alongside sports’ journalism and The Guardian Sport made a poor decision when it decided to make most of its graphics black and white.
New London Front Cover The Sunday Times has also added a new section. New London is a magazine distributed in the capital monthly. The title, targeted at wealthy young Londoners, is similar in layout to ES Magazine. New London is picture based and claims to uncover the most hip places in the most happening city on earth. Little known restaurants and hidden boutiques are brought to the readers’ attention as are up and coming people living in London. New London is a light read that involves little brain power. 13 of the 26 pages are given over to advertising.
