Changes At The Telegraph And Homes & Ideas

Lord Hartwell left the board of The Telegraph plc on 31 December 1995. His decision follows the recent sale by his family’s trust of its remaining shareholding in the company.

Lord Hartwell joined the company in 1946, became a director in 1948 and from 1954-1987 was chairman and editor in chief. He also founded The Sunday Telegraph in 1961.

Mr Conrad Black, chairman of The Telegraph said: “Lord Hartwell has devoted his adult life to The Telegraph newspapers. He led them to great heights of success…He always kept faith with the readers and, without his emphasis on quality and integrity, these newspapers would not have been as successful as they now are…His contribution over 50 years has been invaluable.”

…IPC has announced a new editor for Homes and Ideas, Debbie Djordjevic. This follows the recruitment of Sally O’Sullivan as editor-in-chief of both Ideal Home and Homes and Ideas. Debbie joins from Wedding and Home.
