Changing Business World Reflected In New FT Supplement
The Financial Times has undergone a number of changes to increase its business coverage. From 9 October, the UK & Ireland edition of the newspaper will contain a new supplement, Creative Business, along with further editorial changes reflecting the changing nature of the UK business scene.
A weekly 16-page tabloid supplement Creative Business will be published each Tuesday and will focus on the media, architecture, industrial design, film and software production. Edited by Andrew Davies, it will be the place “where creativity and commerce meet.”
A revamped “Inside Track” will include Law and Business every Monday, providing in-depth editorial coverage on legal matters and the law industry itself. It will also increase its emphasis on technology and management with two new columns. Mondays will also include a new full-page sports section covering the weekend’s major events and providing full results coverage.
Philip Stephens, editor of the UK and Ireland edition, said: “The process of change helps to ensure that the FT remains as relevant and informative for the new entrepreneurial classes as it has traditionally been for the City and corporate Britain.”
Business titles have been leading the way in recent circulation reports, with the Financial Times seeing increases of 19% during August (see National Newspaper ABC Round-Up – August 2000).
