Today saw the unveiling of the Channel Four Christmas schedule and the highlights include the television premiere of the stage show Riverdance, coverage of Michael Jackson’s December concert and Ken Russell’s musical homage to Treasure Island.
Following on from the last two themed Christmas seasons, this year’s theme is a Beastly Christmas which includes documentaries on vivisection, animal rights and our attitude to the animal kingdom. There are several specially commissioned documentaries including Fierce & Gentle Creatures which stars several of the cast from a Fish Called Wanda who take a look at animal conservation.
There is also a season of new and classic films which link into the animal theme, these include the premiere of Leon The Pig Farmer and A Private Function.
Comedy highlights include specials for Sean Hughes, Rory Bremner and Lily Savage.
