Channel 4 Keeps Hold Of Italian Football

Channel 4 has announced that it has reached an agreement to show live Italian football from Serie A for the next three seasons. The first Football Italia will kick off on Sunday September 8 in its regular weekly slot of 1.15pm.

The deal means that Channel 4 is the only terrestrial channel to show live coverage of top football league matches on a weekly basis. Mick Miller, Channel 4’s commissioning editor for sport, said “The length of the contract means that, as well as following the fortunes of Europe’s premier league, we can track the Azzurri’s World Cup qualifying campaign”.

Chrysalis Sport will once again be providing the coverage as well as making the weekly magazine programme, Gazzetta Football Italia, on air weekly from Saturday September 14.
