Channel 4 Seeks Partner For Film Channel
Channel 4 is currently in negotiations with several advertisers with the intention of forming a long-term commercial partnership with its new subscription film channel, Film Four, which is to be carried on the new digital services (see Newsline).
Channel Four’s head of sponsorship, David Charlesworth, could not divulge who the prospective partners might be, but said that it was looking for a group with a premium brand image. He added: “The channel is to carry independent, cult and uncut films and will have a contemporary, very young, very bold character. It will be very much part of the culture of British Film. Most of our home-made films will be premiered on the channel.”
Channel Four Films is famous for the likes of Trainspotting and Shallow Grave, both of which were huge hits in the UK and have achieved a cult status.
…Channel 4 is increasing its sponsorship division following a four-fold increase in sponsorship revenue over the past two years. James Oxley is to become promotions manager, moving over from Atlantic 252, and will be reporting to Charlesworth.
