Channel 4 Shows Growth In Ad Revenue

Channel 4 has announced in its Report and Financial Statements for 1995 that it continues to gain revenue share from its terrestrial competitors. Advertising and sponsorship revenue in 1995 was £448 million – an increase of 13.7% on 1994.

Despite increased competition from satellite and cable channels, now taking 6% of the tv advertising market, C4 continues to grow. There has been a continued sales growth from business bases in Manchester (up 44.5%), Scotland (up 27.4%) and Ireland (up 20.8%). Much of the ad revenue has come from categories away from traditional television sectors of food and household goods: telecommunications, personal computers and charities.
