Channel 4 To Launch On-Demand Service

Channel 4 Logo Channel 4 is to launch an on-demand service from December 6, offering over 500 hours of content to PC users for up to £1.99.

The 4oD service will give users up to 30 days to access repeats of current shows such as Ramsay’s Kitchen Nightmares and Hollyoaks.

TV programmes will cost 99p and films will cost £1.99 and content can be stored in a personal library until it is viewed.

From next year, subscription packages will be on offer, seeing TV content available for £3.99 a month, films for £4.99 or both for £5.99.

4oD will offer two free pieces of content a month, which from next spring will carry ads. I has not yet been decided whether or not the paid for content will carry advertising.

Channel 4 has also signed a deal which will see it provide on-demand content on BT’s IPTV platform, BT Vision, which will be launched later this year (see BT Vision Launches Without Major Marketing Campaign).
