Channel 4 Unveils Musical Christmas Schedule
Channel 4 has revealed that its Christmas schedule will centre around a five-hour special which will count down The 100 Greatest Musicals of all time.
The special viewing marathon will be hosted by Denise Van Outen and will feature both classic and contemporary musicals. The channel will also screen a special update of Operatunity – The Winners Story, as well as a performance of Starvinsky’s The Firebird by Canada’s national ballet company.
There will also be a range of festive family dramas including a modern retelling of the classic fairy tail Jack and the Beanstalk: The Real Story, created by Jim Henson. Three of Oscar Wilde’s best known children’s stories are also to be screened and Channel 4 favourites Graham Norton and Avid Merrion will be appearing in Christmas specials.
New research from Channel 4 recently revealed television viewers are as attentive to commercial breaks as they were five years ago, despite a marked increase in the number channels on offer (see Viewers Continue To Tune In To Television Advertising).
