Channel 5 Costs Rise By £50m

According to today’s Times the launch costs of Channel 5 have risen by £50m to reach £150m, mainly as a result of the extended retuning programme *C5 And DTI Reach Agreement.

Channel 5’s backers, which include Pearson and United News & Media, have apparently confirmed the £150m figure. The C5 launch was originally forecast to reach around £60m and was then revised to £100m due to continuing retuning difficulties. Around 4 million out of 14 million homes have now been retuned according to C5.
