England’s victory over Albania in last night’s World Cup qualifying match gave Channel 5 its highest ever audience. An average of 5.5m viewers tuned in to watch the game with a high of 8 million around 9pm.
The broadcast gave C5 an audience share of 24%, more than four times its average and its overall share yesterday reached 13.6%, more than double its average.
Classic gangster movie Get Carter was broadcast after the game and was watched by an average 2.1m people, according to overnight figures.
