Channel 5 Plan
The government is finalising plans that would allow C5 to go ahead, but it is unclear whether it will be ready in time for the ITC’s next meeting on June 23. The new plan involves a compromise which would allow for both a C5 using existing analogue technology and keep open the possibility of developing digital terrestrial TV. On this basis C5 would be capable of reaching about 63% of the population, compared to the 74% originally envisaged by the ITC.
