Channel 5 Rolls Out New Youth Zone

Channel 5 is to launch a new youth zone on 24 April. A key programme of the schedule will be a new drama series, bought from New Zealand production company, Cloud 9, called the The Tribe.

The youth programmes will be hosted by Kate McIntyre and a host of hyperactive cartoon characters. For the first time on the channel, youth programmes at the weekend will be shown in afternoon as well as morning slots.

Nick Wilson, C5’s controller for children’s and religious programming, commented: “I am delighted with the new on-air look. It will convey an attitude that allows our audience to connect with the channel.”

A marketing and press campaign will support the launch of the new strand, including centre page advertisements in Jazzy Books, the company which supplies schools with sponsored exercise books.
