Channel 5 To Be Advertised On Tuesday
The Independent Television Commission will formally advertise the licence for Channel 5 on Tuesday 1 November. The ITC will have to advertise two separate propositions for the channel: one to reach just over half the UK population, and the other nearly three quarters.
The reason for the doubt is that the ITC is still applying for international permission to use extra frequencies for C5; this is because frequencies previously reserved for C5 have now been allotted for digital television.
Considerable interest is still expected for the licence: YTTV is understood to be interested in forming an alliance with either Pearson or MAI; CanWest Global Communications of Canada; Reuters; NBC and the Virgin Group. Full details on Newsline on Tuesday morning.
