Channel Four Injects £100m Into Films
Channel Four has announced that it will be spending up to £100m over the next four years on British feature films. It is believed that the money could fund 80 new films over that time period.
It is estimated that around £18m will be spent on Channel Four’s Film on Four , rising to £22m in 1997, £28m in 1998 and £32m in 1999. The new funding does depend however on further reductions in the amount Channel Four pays to ITV companies, with payments being reduced to zero by the end of the decade.
