Chat Magazine Launches Pre-Christmas Promotion

IPC Connect’s Chat magazine for women has teamed up with Asda to launch a pre-Christmas promotion designed to boost sales amongst supermarket shoppers.

The initiative will offer readers the chance to win one of £10,000 worth of prizes from Asda’s exclusive Schneider and Pacific brands, including televisions, microwaves, stereos and cooking appliances.

Special issues of Chat featuring the ‘Electronic Christmas Bonanza’ will only be available in Asda stores. Readers will be encouraged to enter a special competition inside the magazine to eligible to win the prizes.

Commenting on the initiative, Chat‘s editor, Paul Merril, said: “It’s a great competition for Chat – with brilliant prizes and the chance to work with Asda, who we know our readers love. We have worked very hard to set this up and I’m sure it will boost our sales that week.”

The latest ABC results brought good news to the Chat, which targets mums aged between 20 and 40 with a mix of true life stories, puzzles and competitions. The magazine saw its circulation improve by a healthy 11.8% year on year to 575,585, up from 515,000 in the same period the previous year.

The success of the Chat recently prompted IPC to launch another one shot publication off the back of the weekly entertainment magazine. The Chat Autumn Special contains eight pages on hair and diet, as well as a range of features designed to appeal to its core readership (see IPC Extends Chat Spin-Off Range With New Title).
