Chat Magazine Secures Kwik Save For Sampling Promotion

IPC’s weekly women’s gossip title, Chat, has secured a deal with Kwik Save to offer readers the opportunity to sample the supermarket’s new ready meals.

The sampling activity will see May’s issue of the magazine feature a special coupon, which can be redeemed for a free ready meal. The supermarket will also sponsor a word search puzzle feature, offering Chat readers the opportunity to win £500 of Kwik Save vouchers.

In a reciprocal arrangement Kwik Save will also provide additional facings in-store to promote Chat, in a move designed to pave the way for further cross-marketing initiatives in the future.

Commenting on the deal, Mary Bryce, deputy editor of Chat, said: “This promotion is perfect for our readers as Kwik Save is one of the top places to shop. We are keen to build our relationship with Kwik Save as they sit perfectly with our profiling.”

The latest ABC results for the six months ending December 2002 show that Chat ‘s mix of gossip and real life stories helped it to see circulation increase by 15.6% year on year (see ABC Jul-Dec 2002: IPC’s Chat Boosts Women’s Weeklies (Non-Subscribers)). However, according to figures from Nielsen Media Research, the magazine saw ad revenue slip by 3.2% during the same period to £4.6 million (see Celebrity Obsession Lifts Ad Revenue At Now).
